This course is for beginners, and also for students with some experience in drawing and painting who want in-depth lessons on materials and painting methods. For each of the six classes you will be given a specific assignment. The objective is to complete one painting during each class meeting. Classes will also include constructive artist/teacher discussions. At the end of the six weeks we will have a final exhibition that will allow students to invite family and friends to come & celebrate their artistic accomplishments.
PORTRAIT PAINTING FROM PHOTOGRAPHS-Begins Oct. 25

Learn to paint friends and loved ones from a photograph. Focus will be on composition, color harmony, space and texture with special attention given to the structure of the head. Learn how to tackle the challenges of portraiture including utilizing knowledge of anatomy, considering lights and darks, mixing flesh tone paints, and laying on color. In this course we will work with acrylics.

Learn the art of still life watercolor painting (fruit, flowers, vessels, etc.) This course will focus on mixing colors, achieving graceful representations and creating balanced compositions.
